saw the mayor's proposal on high-powered electric motorcycles is on the council agenda tomorrow night (thursday the 5th). the flyer has the rundown here: fayetteville flyer writeup

short version as i read it: anything over 750 watts or faster than 28 mph, the throttle-only no-pedal kind, would be banned from sidewalks and from all city trails, paved and natural surface. on the street the rider has to be 16+ and follow state motor vehicle law. the mayor says regular e-bikes aren't affected.

we walk the loop at gulley park most weekends with the kids and i've seen a couple of those dirt-bike looking ones go by way faster than they should on a shared path, so i get why it's coming up. what i don't get is enforcement. how is an officer supposed to tell a 750 watt bike from a regular e-bike at 20 feet? are they checking spec stickers? i'm definately not anti-ebike and it seems like people on normal class 2 bikes could get hassled over it.

curious where everyone lands. anyone planning to go speak tomorrow? if i hear how it goes i'll post an update.
